The Left Lane is for one thing…….

Unless you’re living under a rock, you have to had seen the Left Lane Syndicate shirts and iconic signs “Left Lane is for Crime” at events all over and on the interweb!! The Left Lane Syndicate has been blowing up all over!! We got Jay to take a break from the grind and do a little Q&A with us! Check it out!!!!

For starters, what’s your name and what do ya do ?

My name is Jay as well and I started Left Lane Syndicate Sept of 2022

How long have you been riding motorcycles and what first got you into them?

The first bike I ever rode was a YZ50 Zinger when I was probably 8 or so. I got my first road bike at 21 and have been riding for 30+ years.

What are you currently riding and what’s the dream bike?

Currently I ride a Triumph Rocket 3 with a fxrt fairing on it. I built it to crush miles but it’s not the most practical highway bike. Eventually I’d like to build a FXR “chopper” and will probably get a more proper cruiser. I put 40K on a road glide but will probably go with a Indian Challenger next.

What gave you the idea to start your apparel co and how long ya been at it?

I’ve been creating brands/merch for years for other people and finally decided it was time to do it for myself. I started out promoting bands/events and have been involved more and more with motorcycle related stuff for the last 5-6 years. The actual idea for Left lane Syndicate came from the Left Lane Is For Crime sign itself. That idea has been in my brain for 2-3 years and I literally woke up thinking about it (again) and had to make myself one. I only had it for 2-3 days and was shipping it off to be a giveaway for the Jersey Pines Bike Fest 22. I knew it was too good not to get it out into the world. I had already planned to do a little bike night tour up the coast starting at Clubstyle NC’s Wednesday bike night in Fayetteville NC, then headed to Fielders Pub Thursday Bike Night in Hammonton NJ and ending at Indian Larrys Block Party for the Friday pre party. That’s when we debuted the sign and the rest is history!

I have told you before, the Fast Past sticker is fucking brillant!  where did that idea come from?  the QR is really my favorite!

I had seen a few videos of people cutting in the line of cars to get to the front and using an audio track about the Fast Pass from a theme park… I knew it would resonate with people. The QR code is a not so subtle Fuck You.

Just to poke the bear a bit, always seems when ya got a good thing, someone steps in and tries to rip ya off….have you guys experienced any of that bullshit?

No one has ripped us off and actually made any money… but a couple of people have tried to ride our coattails in a less than righteous fashion. I consider it stealing and stealing from me is bad for your health. We are very lucky to have friends all over and stuff like this is brought to our attention with a quickness. As the old saying goes, WDCC.

You have really worked hard to blow up your brand, you are on the road what seems to be non-stop!  What’s the response been at the shows?  Any show stand out ?

Thank you! We (my guy Wayne and I) have def traveled alot this past year, but many of those events I would have been at anyway. Seeing people from many states away at event after event is by far my favorite part. The shows and events all have their standout moments but it’s really just the people. Sometimes it’s being able to ride handlebar to handlebar with a good friend and sometimes it’s the quiet, 3 min conversation I get to have with people about real life shit.

What’s a bit of advice you can give to anyone starting up a small business in this industry?

Just be real and honest. That will take you way further than trying to copy someones work.

What’s next for Left Lane Syndicate?

From the very start one of our goals was to be able to be successful enough to buy other brands merch at wholesale and resell it all over the country. That’s still very much on the agenda. We need a bigger booth, bigger trailer etc but I still think its doable. It really bums me out when another brand tells me they can’t afford to go to some event when I know they would have a certain amount of success.
